DAVAO CITY, Dec. 9 (PNA) - At least 50 families were rendered homeless when a fire gutted their houses at Barangay 1-A, Magallanes Riverside, this city around 9:30 Friday morning.
Initial reports from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) placed the damage at around P5 million.
The fire started at the residence of a certain Cita Lu believed due to an electrical short circuit.
The fire razed several houses to the ground due to narrow roads in the area located a few kilometers from the Bangoy Fire Station and the Public Safety Command Center.
The fire reached the general alarm, prompting fire trucks from nearby Panabo City and Tagum City to arrive here.
Most of the properties damaged were boarding houses occupied mostly by workers and students.
